Sentinel PTZ Camera Features: Starlight Mode

StarLight Mode in action

With enabled 'starlight' technology, the Sentinel is able to operate down to extremely low light levels (0.02 Lux). The 'starlight' mode is an advanced slow-shutter setting which slows the camera's shutter to allow in more light. Nine gradients can be configured from x0 up to x36. The 'starlight' mode is best for night-time scenes with low levels of motion. These include use in astronomy and perimeter surveillance, as well as game viewing at water holes.

StarLight Technology: The safe alternative to Infrared!

Rather than using infrared (IR), StarLight Technology uses an advanced slow shutter setting which allows in extra light. Many surveillance cameras, often including video baby monitors, tend to use IR technology. Research by the Duke University Medical Center among other studies report that IR may cause cataracts when overexposed. You wouldn't smoke around your child, so why would you expose them to dangerous infrared radiation? StarLight Technology uses natural light to get the same effect, but poses none of the possible health problems of IR.

With its technologically advanced Starlight Mode, the X10 Sentinel PTZ Camera is ideal for use as a baby monitor. Instead of using potentially harmful radiation to get a clear picture, the Sentinel's Starlight Mode simply slows the camera's shutter dramatically to let in more light, allowing for a crystal-clear full color picture even in the darkest of rooms.
